About Ivan Kaufman
As founder of the Arbor real estate finance and investment companies, Ivan Kaufman brings more than 30 years of real estate finance experience to the Arbor platform with a significant track record of success across both the residential and commercial markets.
Since forming Arbor National Holdings and its subsidiary, Arbor National Mortgage, in 1983, Ivan Kaufman has taken Arbor and its various companies through a series of expansions, acquisitions and real estate cycles, resulting in one of the more diversified real estate empires in the United States. Today, Kaufman serves as chairman and CEO of multifamily lender Arbor Commercial Mortgage and residential investor Arbor Residential Mortgage, as well as the chairman, president and CEO of Arbor Realty Trust, a mortgage real estate investment trust listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE:ABR). Kaufman’s other related businesses include Arbor Multifamily Acquisition Company (AMAC).
More recently, Kaufman re-entered the single-family residential loan marketplace with the acquisition of AMS Servicing and the formation of Arbor Residential Mortgage. In 2013, he participated in a joint venture to acquire AMS Servicing from Arbor Commercial Mortgage and establish Seneca Mortgage Investments.
In 2016, Kaufman and his son launched a product to make real estate investing as easy and accessible as possible to potential commercial real estate investors. The product, ArborCrowd, makes it possible for people to co-invest in properties with successful deal-makers. AborCrowd guides the experience of these investors and takes the weight of managing the properties off their shoulders.
Widely recognized for his expertise in the commercial and residential mortgage sectors, Ivan Kaufman has lectured on these topics at the Wharton School, Harvard Business School and Columbia University. Active in environmental and educational causes as well, Mr. Kaufman previously volunteered with Global ReLeaf and the International Arid Lands Consortium, founded North Shore Hebrew Academy High School and serves as a trustee of the Birthright Israel Foundation. He also spent time as chair of New York State’s Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission for the 10th Judicial District.
